System Requirements

1: What are the system requirements to run the Mortgage Toolbar (TM)?
The system requirements for running the Mortgage Toolbar (TM) are:
  • Microsoft Windows (95, 98, ME, NT, 2000 or XP)
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0 or greater
2: When will the Mortgage Toolbar (TM) be available for other browsers?
Mortgage Toolbar (TM) is only available for Internet Explorer for the moment. The implementation of the Mortgage Toolbar (TM) with other browsers will be developped in the future.
3: Can the Mortgage Toolbar (TM) be available in other languages?
It is easy to manage different languages from the configuration file for a single bar. When you add a new language to the configuration file, users will be able to select it from the Options menu. Individual bars with a specific language configuration can also be managed by renaming the dynamic-link library (DLL) and creating a new configuration file for
3: Do AOL browser users can install the Mortgage Toolbar (TM)?
The Mortgage Toolbar (TM) can only be installed on Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0 or greater for the moment.

Installation

1: Why do some users get an ActiveX error message when trying to install the Mortgage Toolbar (TM)?

Your Internet security settings might be on High. This setting will prevent ActiveX controls from running. To install the Mortgage Toolbar (TM), you must have ActiveX controls enabled. To do this, apply the following steps:
  • From your browser, select Tools > Internet Options
  • Click on the Security Tab
  • Click on the Internet icon in the window
  • Change security setting to Medium
  • Click OK
  • Or you may try to reinstall the Mortgage Toolbar (TM).
2: The Mortgage Toolbar (TM) is installed, but it does not appear on the browser.
From your browser, click on "View > Toolbars" and select the name of the toolbar.
3: Why is the installation of the Mortgage Toolbar (TM) failed even though using WindowsNT or 2000?

If the user is running WindowsNT or Windows 2000, he has to check with his system administrator that he has the administrative privileges required to install applications.
4: How do users know a new version of the Mortgage Toolbar (TM) is available?
The Mortgage Toolbar (TM) has an auto-update system. Users are notified when an update is made to the toolbar’s DLL. To ensure a flawless update, a warning is issued if more than one instance of Internet Explorer is opened.
5: I followed instructions in this FAQ but my installation still fails. What do I do?

Using the Mortgage Toolbar (TM)

1: Can the user change the Mortgage Toolbar (TM) preferences?
The Mortgage Toolbar (TM) options can be modified by the user through a Web page, inside Internet Explorer. It communicates with the DLL.
2: Is it possible to change the place of the Mortgage Toolbar (TM)?
It is possible to change the place of the Mortgage Toolbar (TM) on the browser by using the mouse.

1: Can the user hide and make reappear the Mortgage Toolbar (TM)?
To hide the Mortgage Toolbar (TM):
  • Click on the Mortgage Toolbar (TM) logo to access the drop down menu.
  • Select the "Hide bar" menu item.
To make reappear the Mortgage Toolbar (TM):
  • From your browser, click View > Toolbar.
  • Select the Mortgage Toolbar (TM) from the list displayed.
